Please can you clarify the shut down procedure using the VP 200.
I was under the impression that one should choose "Shutdown Now" in Post-Flight Mode before pulling the mixture. On re-reading the manual (p27), it appears that it might not be necessary to shut everything down until all indications have been reviewed: specifically, I'd like to read my Hobbs and Tach off my EFIS. Using the procedure I'd originally understood, I currently need to restart the EFIS after shutdown or leave the engine running while scrolling to these pages to collect this information? This is not a problem but often I land in places I don't want to let the prop run any longer than essential. |

Several answers:
1. Press the rotary knob to select a device. This inhibits the mode switching, so you can shut off the engine and it won't go into post-flight until you press the rotary knob again. 2. Keep the EFIS on in postlfight mode, but unless it is on in pre-flight it will come on for about 20 seconds then shut off again when you power-on next. This is because the CU comes on in its last state (for safety) and then when the DU boots up the DU recognizes it is in Pre-Flight mode and shuts most everything off. The CU boots up in about 1 sec and the DU boots in about 20 sec so there is a slight disconnect if you have something on in Post-Flight but Off in Pre-Flight 3. Our next software release in August will have a display for engine and tach time which shows in Post-Flight Mode and that should solve your issue. |
